Hawke’s Bay is well equipped with health services, including primary health care like general practitioners (GPs) and dentists.
The Hawke’s Bay District Health Board operates many of the region’s health services. Hawke’s Bay has one major, four hundred bed hospital based in Hastings which services the entire region. It is the regional centre for acute services, and provides medical, surgical, specialist, assessment, and rehabilitation services from one site.
The region also has a city health centre in Napier providing 24 hour urgent medical care, x-ray, therapy and laboratory services, minor surgery, low risk maternity care, and outpatient clinics.
There are also rural health centres in Wairoa and Central Hawke’s Bay.
