Hawke’s Bay’s favourable climate and fertile soils produce a huge variety of foods.
The region boasts an array of world-class food producers including international players, like Heinz-Watties and McCain, as well as the likes of PPCS and Affco.
Aside from the larger food processing companies, Hawke’s Bay also has a cluster of locally grown and very innovative medium-sized processors who have developed successful export markets to Asia, Japan and Australia.
Food Hawke’s Bay is a membership organisation developed to promote and grow the region’s food industry by providing specialist advice and support.
The EIT has the Food and Wine Centre of Innovation which was established to provide a focal point for training, education, research and product development activities for the Hawke's Bay food industry.
