The New Zealand Government offers financial assistance to businesses by way of grants for projects.
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) administer a Market Development Grant which is a 50% co-fund grant open to businesses to help your business enter a new export market or undertake new activity in an existing export market.
This is open to businesses who meet the following criteria:
- Are implementing an international market development project that represents a significant growth step for the business.
- Have annual turnover of less than $50 million, and are committed to retaining the value of the business in New Zealand.
- Are resident in New Zealand and registered for GST.
- Groups of businesses working together can also apply.
Examples of activities that can be funded are:
- Market visits
- In-market representation
- Advertising and promotion
- Marketing collateral
- Trade fairs and events
- Market research
NOTE: Activities in the Australian market are not eligible.
